Actress and socialite Zsa Zsa Gabor, one of Hollywood’s most infamous party girls during her heydays, is in a serious condition after falling out of bed and breaking her hip while watching TV.
The family of the 93-year-old was at her bedside in Los Angeles as doctors prepared to carry out an emergency operation.
Gabor’s husband, Prince Frederic von Anhalt, said his bedridden wife fell out of bed when she reached to answer the phone while watching the game show Jeopardy at her home in Bel Air on Saturday night.
He called an ambulance and she was taken to the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Centre, reported Daily Mail online.
Gabor married nine times and her exes include hotel billionaire, Conrad Hilton, Paris Hilton’s great-grandfather, and Oscar-winning actor George Sanders.
Gabor’s colourful remarks often grabbed headlines and she once famously claimed that her many marriages made her a good housekeeper because every time she divorced, she kept the house.
Another time she quipped, “I have never hated a man enough to give his diamonds back.”
The Hungary-born-actress has been forced to use a wheelchair since a 2002 car accident. She also suffered a massive stroke five years ago.
Her films included Moulin Rouge, John Huston’s 1952 biopic about painter Toulouse Lautrec, the 1957 espionage thriller The Girl in the Kremlin and Orson Welles’s 1958 classic Touch of Evil.
