Imphal, April 22: Continuing its action against proscribed UG groups, troops of Red Shield Division apprehended a key appointment of UTLA. In a successful intelligence based operation launched by 11 Assam Rifle based in Tamenglong, oneTonglen Singson resident of Phoitel village which is part of Tousem Sub-Division ofTamenglong district was apprehended in Tamenglong town. The individual is suspected to be the Defence Advisorof the banned outfit of UTLA. The individual was handed over to the police.
On the other hand, one cadre of Kangleipak Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL) was apprehended at Thangal Bazar in Imphal, by the police commandos, Imphal West district Wednesday afternoon, according to a police source.
The arrested person has been identified as Tomanbam Johnson Singh @ Mubi (24) s/o (L) Biren Singh of Maharabi Maning Leikai.
On verification, the cadre disclosed that he had joined the organization in November, 2008 and was working under the command of one Kongrailatpam Giridhari of the organization, informed the police.
One mobile handset with sim card was seized from his possession.
Discovering the presence of UG cadres in general area Wabagai, troops of 21 Assam Rifles of 9 sector under HQ IGAR (South) launched operation in the area and apprehended a PREPAK cadre at around 0015 AM on 22 April 2010. The apprehendee was identified as MayengbamTomba Singh, 32 years, s/o Late M Anou, r/o Wabagai Yangbi Maning.
