State to press for Bharat Ratna to Dr Hazarika

GUWAHATI, Nov 11 – Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today reiterated that the State Government will make a fresh plea to the Centre for awarding Dr Bhupen Hazarika with Bharat Ratna.
“I had written to the Prime Minister around two months back asking the latter to consider Dr Hazarika for Bharat Ratna, against which I also received an acknowledgment letter from the PMO. Now, I will personally take up the matter with the Prime Minister,” Gogoi said.
Gogoi was speaking to media persons on the sidelines of a function in the capital city.
