SPCC claims political interference in NSP
SE Report
GANGTOK, June 28: The Sikkim Pradesh Congress Committee (SPCC) has accused the selection committee of Nepali Sahitya Parishad (NSP), Sikkim of sidelining deserving writers to place themselves in good books of those in power by announcing this year’s ‘Bhanu Puraskar’ to be conferred on Chief Minister Pawan Chamling.
The selection of SDF spokesperson Bhim Dahal for last year’s ‘Bhanu Puraskar’ and the Chief Minister for the Bhanu Puraskar 2010 clearly demonstrates of political interference in organizations depended on government grants like NSP, said the SPCC in a press release today.
Such discriminatory selection practices also signals that promising writers can be sidelined and we feel that that the organizations who gives awards in such manner are trying to place themselves in good light of those in power, said the SPCC.
The SPCC said that awards are to be giving to upcoming and promising artistes, writers and musicians who are baton bearers of tomorrow in the field of literature, art and music of Sikkim.
