Queen’s Baton arrives today
ITANAGAR, July 21: The Queen’s Baton, on the country-wide relay in the run up to the Delhi Commonwealth Games, would enter the State Capital from Tawang tomorrow at 2.20 pm.
Arunachal Olympic Association (AOA) president Padi Richo will receive the Baton at Naharlagun helipad. Thereafter, it would be brought to Rajiv Gandhi stadium, Naharlagun at 3 from where the actual relay would start.
The Baton would be kept for few minutes at the stadium for public viewing before Parliamentary Affairs, Tourism and Power (E) Minister Jarbom Gamlin launching the relay.
The relay would pass through Itanagar Capital Complex DC’s office, Raj Bhawan, Itafort south gate, Thupten Gatsaling Gompa, Legi complex, Akashdeep, Sangey Lhaden Sports Academy, IG Park and culminate at Banquet Hall.
A cultural programme of 40 minute duration is being organized at Banquet Hall in the evening.
The Baton would be kept at Raj Bhawan for a night before being flown to its next stop Dimapur, Nagaland.
