Quake rocks Northeast

SHILLONG: An earth-quake measuring 5.0 magnitude on Richter scale shook Assam and Meghalaya at 12.32 pm on Saturday. According to the Seismological Observatory in Upper Shillong, epicentre of the earthquake was in Garo Hills region of Assam-Meghalaya border. However, there is no report of any damage.

Meanwhile, another earthquake shook some parts of the region at 5.54 pm on Friday. The epicentre of the earthquake that measured 4.8 on the Richter Scale was located along the Indo-Bangladesh border in Tripura. No loss of life or damage to property has been reported so far.
