Orgs question govt action on Late Nguso case
ITANAGAR, July 22: The Global Human Rights Organization (GHRO) and Nefa Indigenous Human Rights Organization (NIHRO), Kargu Kardi Students Union (KKSU) condemned the brutal acts of Police personnel leading to the death of Late Jumchi (Tashi) Nguso on July 15.
The organizations termed it as inhuman and gross violation of Human Rights and abuse of power.
After observing all circumstantial facts and evidences of the incidence its clearly indicates police atrocities, recklessness, and serious violation of Human Rights, said a joint message by GHRO and NIHRO.
The organizations also questioned the state government and the concerned authorities for the delay in arrest of those erring police officers and the cops involved in the murder case.
NIHRO and GHRO said that registration of case U/S 279/304(A) IPC is completely misleading and demanded that it should be booked under appropriate sections like 302 IPC. Such misleading registration of the case is nothing but an attempt to hide the facts of the case, it added.
The organizations urged upon the state government to hand over the case to the independent inquiry Agency like – Central Bearua of Investigation (CBI) for impartial inquiry. Since, it is a serious Human Rights Violation, Murder/custodial death.
The organizations also urged upon the state government and the higher authorities of the Police Department to impart proper Training and Counseling programe to the police.
It said if there is delay in the process, GHRO and NIRHO shall file an appeal before the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) and even UN Human Rights Body.
Kargu Kardi Students Union (KKSU) said that apart from the incident of July 15, there has been many untold cases of police brutality which resulted in mass public outrage that particular day. The Union appealed to the ‘eye witnesses’ to come over voluntarily and give their witnesses. Their statement can make a difference in this whole episode, it said.
The Union further condemned the police officials for injuring the one Soyi Rida with a tear gas shell. The victim who is in Guwahati for medical attention. The Union appealed the Chief Minister to extend financial help to the victim.
