Organizations take up Dr’s cause

ITANAGAR, July 1: All Papum Pare District Students Union while taking up the cause of Dr Tana Talin Tara, Medical Officer of PHC Leporiang who was allegedly assaulted while on duty by the City Police has demanded immediate termination of Officer In Charge L R Rana and SDPO B S Mehra for their involvement and enquiry of involvement of SP, City Police. The Union further called for arrest of Rajesh and Rakesh Pandey, the proprietor of M/S Rakesh Enterprise for their involvement in the Police manhandling of the doctor. The union demanded that trading license and arms license of the traders’ be canceled and seized.

Leporiang People Welfare Committee, Capital Complex, on the other hand while reacting to the City Police clarification on the issue said that it was diluted, fabricated and stage managed. It called for fair investigation into the issue. Capital Students Union too voiced against the clarification given by the City Police and termed it a wrong statement.

Yesterday, City Police denied that the officers of Naharlagun Police Station manhandled Dr. Tara. Police said that the doctor along with Tana Hari Tara and Tana Batang not only beat up Rajesh Pandey at Naharlagun market but molested the maid. It added that the trio went to the shop of Rajesh Pandey at Naharlagun market and assaulted him for not replacing a car damaged by a Tata Mobile owned by the Pandeys with a new vehicle.

The Arunachal Pradesh Doctors Association too had voiced against the police action.
