Nanak Jayanti celebrated in State

GUWAHATI, Nov 10 – Guru Nanak Jayanti, also known as Guru Parab, was celebrated today in Assam with traditional gaiety and fervor along with the rest of the country.

In Guwahati, too, members of the Sikh community thronged the gurudwaras located in various parts of the city, including Fancy Bazar, Gopinath Nagar, Beltola, Lalmati, Boragaon, Maligaon and Last Gate since early morning and offered their prayers.

Verses from the Guru Granth Sahib or Akand Paath (teachings of Guru Nanak Dev, the founder Guru of Sikhism) were recited throughout the day in gurudwaras. Besides, shabad (religious hymn) were also performed.

Langars (free kitchen) were also organised in all the gurudwaras.
