Socialite and Reality TV star Kim Kardashian idolises Disney cartoon character Princess Jasmine from Aladdin who helped her deal with her body issues.
The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star, who flaunts a curvaceaous body, used to look up to the fictional character as she thought she looked the same as Jasmine, Contactmusic reported.
“It’s good for women to have a role model. I remember when ‘Aladdin’ came out when I was young – I was obsessed with Princess Jasmine as I looked just like her. And I admired Sophia Loren and looked to her body shape,” said Kardashian.
“So if I can help anyone feel more comfortable in their skin, I’m all for it. I say, ‘Be proud of who you are. Be proud to be a curvy woman because curves are sexy!” she added.
The 29-year-old star, who was recently immortalised as a waxwork at New York’s Madame Tussauds museum, had to suffer cruel taunts from bullies at school and therefore wasn’t always happy with her voluptuous figure.
“I was 11 when I started developing breasts and it made me feel uncomfortable. The girls at school made fun of me, and when I looked at magazines, everyone was so skinny and that wasn’t me,” Kardashian said.
“Luckily, in my family, curvy was normal. What got me through it was being close to my mom. She talked to me and my sisters and told us to be proud of who we are. She gave us confidence,” she added.
