Govt servant arrested for raping a minor

SHILLONG: Police on Tuesday arrested a government servant for allegedly raping a minor girl seven years back.
Police said the accused, one Joken Kharsati, had committed the crime when the victim was six years old.
The victim, now 13 years old, had kept the matter a secret from her parents and attempted to commit suicide on several occasions.
According to police, it was after proper counselling by a priest that the victim revealed the matter to her family members who immediately filed an FIR with the police on Saturday. Following investigation, police arrested the accused on Tuesday.
