Govt employee arrested for posing as policeman

New Delhi, June 17 (PTI) A Delhi government employee was arrested for allegedly impersonating as a police constable, police said today.

28-year old Dalbir Singh, posted as head clerk in Sarvodya Kanya Vidhalya, Bakhtawarpur, was caught yesterday at Hiranki Picket in Alipur after he tried to avoid police checking of his car by showing a Delhi Police identity card in his name to the authorities, they said.

“Initially he tried to escape by speeding his car.

After he was chased by the policemen, he showed a Delhi Police ID card in his name to the authorities and claimed he was posted in Chanakya Puri,” a senior police officer said.

“Later, on further verification, it was found that Singh worked in Delhi Government as DASS (Grade-II) Officer and was presently posted as head clerk in Sarvodya Kanya Vidhalya, Bakhtawarpur,” he added.
