Five UGs surrender with arms

Imphal, June 15: Five hardcore undergrounds of various banned outfits laid down arms before the tate police chief Y Joykumar and major general CA Krishnan in a surrender ceremony held at the IGAR (S) complex, Mantripukhri on Monday.
The five undergrounds surrendered with arms and ammunitions included three activists from Kangleipak Communist Party-Military Council (KCP-MC) and two cadres from People United Liberation Front (PULF-Umar Farooq).

They were A.Ibochouba, Kiran and Tomba all from KCP-MC while the other two cadres of PULF (Umar Faroog) were identified as Md. Samir @Inao and Md. Allauddin @ Romeo, said the PRO adding one AK-47 rifles and four 9mm pistols were handed over to security forces by the surrenderees.

The surrendered of the undergrounds was termed as eventful outcome of long and sustained effort of the 9 sector Assam Rifles under the IGAR(S) in motivating the relatives and militants to enable them joining the mainstream.
Speaking at the surrender ceremony, state DGP, Y Joykumar welcomed five youths to the mainstream of the civil society.
The peaceful surrender of these cadres with arms would definitely be a guiding beacon for militants not in Suspension of Operation with the government, to follow the rest paving way for peace and harmony in the state.
He further observed that peace is a must for advancing a country or state forward in development. The country or state ridden with violence can never develop.

With the determination in taking part in bringing forward state in development, undergrounds should left the path of violence, the DGP said calling upon the undergrounds to come to the mainstream and bring forward the state.
He also assured all facilities which can be provided by the state government under the state’s surrendered policy to the surrendered undergrounds.

IGAR (S), CA Krishnan who also spoke on the occasion said the surrendered of five undergrounds will pave the path for others misguided youths follow the suit.
