Designated camp of KNO/KNA opened

Imphal, May 28: A designated camp of the Kuki National Organisation (KNO)/Kuki National Army (KNA) signing Suspension of Operation (SoO) with the government forces was opened today at Harmom village.

The designated camp is located near the Cheklap village some 15 km from the Sita Lamkhai of the Imphal-Moreh route.
Ex-MLA, Onjamang Hoakip, chairman of the Hill Tribal Council, Jangmang Haokip and defense secretary of KNO, TS Haokip graced the opening ceremony as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively. Leaders of the HTC, Moreh, village chiefs, social workers, students and church leaders also attended the function.

Speaking as chief guest of the function, former MLA, Onjamang Haokip said the trust signed between the KNO and government has paved the way to bring peace in the region where the designated camp was opened.

Compared with the Naga political status, Kuki’s political condition is still low. But Kuki people are keeping full confidence bringing a political solution to the issues of Kuki people. The goal can be achieved if Kukis work hard and build up unity, he added.

President of the HTC, Jangmang Haokip said despite Naga struggles for independent for 50 years, Kuki’s demand is also not a small issue. Only when Kukis stand united, the goal of the people will be achieved.
