SHILLONG: A 14-member AICC delegation from the State Congress will meet AICC president Sonia Gandhi on November 3 in New Delhi to discuss party matters.

The delegation is already camping in the national capital to attend the AICC session scheduled for Tuesday.

Prominent among those who are camping in Delhi include Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma, former Chief Minister DD Lapang, Education Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh, MPCC president Friday Lyngdoh, MPCC working president Deborah Marak, and a few State party leaders.  AICC member Ronnie V Lyngdoh could not make it for the session on account of health reasons, a party worker informed.

Though speculation is rife that some party men will make use of the opportunity to apprise the Congress president of the “poor governance” of the Chief Minister, a Congress leader associated with the MPCC said the delegation will only discuss party matters in general during the meeting with Sonia Gandhi.

Earlier, some Congress leaders had written to the AICC president on the financial crunch being faced by the Government.

However, the Chief Minister had defended the financial situation saying that his government had inherited an empty coffer.
