Captain Sangma’s death anniversary

TURA: The Mangsang-Ampang Mahari Association is planning to hold an appropriate observance ceremony for Meghalaya’s first Chief Minister Captain WS Sangma on his twentieth death anniversary at his birth place in Siju on October 25.

The death anniversary is to be observed at the Captain Sangma Memorial Park near Siju Cave at 11 am. Deputy Commissioner of South Garo Hills, Dr BDR Tiwari, is expected to be the chief guest at the programme. Captain Sangma was also the first Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council and the first Garo to be made the Governor of a state.

Similar observance is scheduled to be held on the lawns of the memorial park next to GHADC office in Tura.
